This is the first book in my autobiographical series. I begin with a look at my parents before I was born. Family dysfunction has its root in the past. By seeing the past stories, one can better understand just how a young couple in love end up making bad parenting decisions.
There is a reason for everything that happens in life. Why are some children victims of abuse, and not others? Of course, the story only talks about the author’s experiences. Yet, in retelling these early life experiences, the reader will notice that there is no blaming or anger directed at the family of origin. There is sadness, and perhaps even compassion for the parents who were caught in their own histories of abuse.

In this second volume, the author leaves his family of origin, an escape from the mad cycles of family dysfunction. Taking solace in music, and another victim of sexual and emotional abuse, the author tells his tale of being a wandering folk musician, playing all over Canada.
There comes a point where the author can no longer care for the psychological needs of his girlfriend, forcing a return to the parental home. Once again caught in the continuing dramas of home, he decides to again escape. A gypsy-like adventure unfolds, telling the story of a flower child musician breaking hearts and having his heart broken in return. The story concludes when the broken road he is following ends. He meets the woman he is destined to call soulmate.

This third book in the series, tells the story of the author as a man. With the commitment to a woman whom he marries, he leaves the past, buries the past in order to carve out a new life.
All is well, or relatively well, until midlife approaches, and old triggers that have to do with childhood and youth issues, create distress and confusion. The past had been effectively forgotten. Now, as the old memories begin to resurface, life is once again challenged.
This story tells how the author has dealt with the old issues of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and a host of other issues that marked his childhood and youth.

From 1971 to 1979 I listened to my father-in-law tell his tales that spoke of his history in a village in the Carpathian region of the Ukraine and Poland. His stories became an oral history that I recorded in the last five years of his life. This book tells the tale of his father and himself until 1928 when conditions in the Ukraine forced him to flee to a new country.
Not long after his arrival on the Canadian prairies, he married another Ukrainian who had been born in a different village in the Ukraine. This story ends with that marriage though his story continued for another fifty years as a pioneer farmer raising fourteen children. Today that family has grown and prospered as those children became parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. This book was originally written for them.
This could be the story of most immigrants that came to Canada.
