Yesterday Was A Busy, Rainy Day

It was gloomy out when I woke up and I rushed out to get a photo before the mosquitoes woke up. The photo above was the result. I didn’t stay out long as despite being taken at 6:04 am, the mosquitoes were awake and hungry.

I had my photo for my journal, my intention. I keep a journal, A screen short of the current year’s journal shows how I use images with text. The journal is a record of people, activities, walking activity, and my emotions. I began this version of journaling in 2013. Over the years, I have had a love-hate relationship with my journal, a relationship that dates back to the early 1970s when my journal was kept in one of those mini-binders once popular while I was at university. I used pencil for those early journals.

As I aged, the journals became hard-covered notebooks which I filled using coloured ink pens. I had travel journals, especially for my distance pilgrimages, smaller hardcover journals that are currently available in various stores. At times, I had both the Word document journal co-existing with a paper journal. I know, it all sounds messy and it was-is.

Anyway, back to yesterday. We went out for morning coffee after I had lit some mosquito coils. The plan was to enjoy the coffee and then have breakfast on the deck as usual. Then, before our second cup of coffee, it began to rain. So much for having breakfast outdoors. Two hours later, we had received one-and-a-half inches of rain. The rain barrels were once again filled and so were extra pails of rain water which I carried to the garden, My wife photographed my carrying water while it was raining.
