{"id":879,"date":"2010-04-14T21:38:39","date_gmt":"2010-04-14T21:38:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/laowaiteacher.wordpress.com\/?p=5"},"modified":"2010-04-14T21:38:39","modified_gmt":"2010-04-14T21:38:39","slug":"contract-is-signed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rglongpre.ca\/pilgrim\/index.php\/2010\/04\/14\/contract-is-signed\/","title":{"rendered":"Contract is Signed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Well, this sets the stage for the return to ChangZhou, Jiangsu, P.R.C. and working at the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.czu.cn\/\"> ChangZhou Institute of Technology (C.I.T.)<\/a> as a History and ESL English teachers.  We spent two years at this university, doing the same assignment from September 2006 to June 2008.  This time around, we&#8217;ve decided to blog the experience so that anyone interested in trying out a similar adventure in China will be able to make decisions based on a bit more information about the country and its people.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/laowaiteacher.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/cit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6\" title=\"CIT\" src=\"http:\/\/laowaiteacher.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/cit.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"75\" \/><\/a>We originally found this university in the early spring of 2006 not too long after I had retired from a teaching and school administration career in Saskatchewan, Canada. \u00a0When the decision to look for a teaching job in China, we began doing searches at a number of different sites such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eslteachersboard.com\/cgi-bin\/China\/index.pl\">ESLTeachers<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eslcafe.com\/\">Dave&#8217;s ESL Caf\u00e9<\/a>, \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.anesl.com\/schools\/index.asp\">Angelina&#8217;s<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.chinatefl.com\/\">China TEFL<\/a> as well as a number of other sites. \u00a0We got to see the job vacancy at ESLTeachers and then did a bit of research on C.I.T.. \u00a0The China TEFL site had a good write up about the university (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chinatefl.com\/jiangsu\/teach\/cit.htm\">here<\/a>) that helped us decide to put this job opportunity into the &#8220;in&#8221; pile. \u00a0After settling on three prime candidates, it became a matter of making a final decision. \u00a0When C.I.T. provided me with the e-mail address of a current teacher, we were able to get apartment photos and yet another viewpoint on working for the university. \u00a0With that, we decided to accept the offers of employment.<\/p>\n<p>Now, after a tw0-year break, we are again at the same point of accepting offers of employment. \u00a0Read along as we prepare for the journey to China and to live and work in China for the 2010-2011 university school year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, this sets the stage for the return to ChangZhou, Jiangsu, P.R.C. and working at the ChangZhou Institute of Technology (C.I.T.) as a History and ESL English teachers.
