newspaper, so it goes to the top of our saved URLs for on-line newspaper reading. \u00a0There is nothing like keeping up with the local news especially when we talk with family and friends from Saskatchewan via Skype. \u00a0If you want to read, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestarphoenix.com\/\">Star Phoenix<\/a>, just click on the image and &#8220;voil\u00e0,&#8221; you are there.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ottawacitizen.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-275\" title=\"Ottawa Citizen\" src=\"http:\/\/laowaiteacher.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/ottawa-citizen.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"117\" \/><\/a>Since Ottawa is where I originally called home, I want to keep up with the national scene as well as my favorite hockey team, so I often log into the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ottawacitizen.com\/\">Ottawa Citizen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/laowaiteacher.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/new-york-times.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-276\" title=\"New York Times\" src=\"http:\/\/laowaiteacher.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/new-york-times.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"419\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/laowaiteacher.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/new-york-times.jpg\"><\/a>For a broader North American view, especially from an American slant, I check in to read the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/\">New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chinadaily.com.cn\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-277\" title=\"China Daily\" src=\"http:\/\/laowaiteacher.wordpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/china-daily.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"74\" \/><\/a>And, while in China, and sometimes while back in Canada, we find it valuable to read the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chinadaily.com.cn\/\">China Daily newspaper<\/a>. \u00a0Sure, it is biased and belongs to the government.<\/p>\n<p>But then again, all newspapers have their bias and have a long way to go before any can claim to be based on truth and fact. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomscott.com\/warnings\/\">Here<\/a> is what one person has done to deal with the problem of truth being absent in newspapers. \u00a0Regardless, the newspapers are an important part of our life. \u00a0We often find ourselves printing out an article and using it in our university classes in order to get discussion going. \u00a0Our students are just as interested in other viewpoints and about what is happening in the world as we are.<\/p>\n<p>This is part of our way of staying connected to the larger world while in Canada. \u00a0I will continue to post other methods we use to stay connected<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, this is our &#8220;local&#8221;
