With the passage of a few weeks in Changzhou and classes beginning to settle into some sort of routine, we found that we had a bit more time for wandering around the city. \u00a0Remembering our first journey to the city centre (\u5e02\u4e2d\u5fc3 – sh\u00ec\u00a0zh\u014dng\u00a0x\u012bn), we decided to make the journey on our own using the city transit system. \u00a0We had a few city maps given to us by the F.A.O. staff that we used to discover which buses would take us downtown (\u5e02\u4e2d\u5fc3 –\u00a0sh\u00ec\u00a0zh\u014dng\u00a0x\u012bn) and which one’s would then take us back to our home in Sunshine Gardens (\u9633\u5149\u82b1\u56ed – y\u00e1ng gu\u0101ng hu\u0101\u00a0yu\u00e1n)! \u00a0Riding the bus, we recognised the Christian church and realised that we needed to get off at the next bus stop.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>We walked back to the park fronting the church and found a huge display of stone that had been crafted into amazing pieces of art. \u00a0A few of them are in the photo above. \u00a0Besides spending a few hours viewing the efforts of true artists, we decided to find a restaurant (\u996d\u5e97\u00a0– f\u00e0n di\u00e0n) before heading back to the apartment. \u00a0We looked for the restaurant in the photo, one we had visited with our Chinese colleagues and co-teachers. \u00a0We did find other restaurants in the Nandajie Shopping Centre (\u5357\u5927\u8857 – n\u00e1n d\u00e0\u00a0ji\u0113) which in the end made us feel more like adventurers. \u00a0So, proud of our ability to fly on our own, we claimed the city of Changzhou as our own.<\/p>\n

We returned to our apartment filled with a sense of comfort that we could do anything in China with the proper attitude. \u00a0With that, we began planning our ventures beyond the borders of the city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
