The name comes from my association with eagles at many points of my life. My First Nations roots are predominantly Anishinaabe [Ojibwe] and Haudenosaunee [Mohawk], or as described in the family as Ojihawk. My spirit animal is the eagle.

My family’s European roots to Canada began with a crossing of the Atlantic Ocean in the 1600s on the ship, L’Aigle Dor. My last principalship was in a school that used the name Eagles for all their teams. That now makes me a Retired Eagle.
